We Did It Back Then - Why Not Now?

Make some backyard memories

We didn’t have filters, hashtags, or phones in our hands — just sunscreen, laughter, and way too many potato salad debates.

This was our version of living in the moment before we even knew the phrase. Backyards turned into summer sanctuaries, and every gathering felt like it could last forever. No one was rushing to document it — we were just there. Together.

Looking back now, it’s wild how the little things — the deck chairs, the side ponytails, that one cousin who always had a joke — became the memories that matter most.

If you’ve got a photo like this tucked away somewhere… pull it out. Hold it close. These were the days. And in some ways, they still are.

Help your children to record their family fun in a memory book or diary of some sort that they can cherish in coming years. Incorporate drawing, writing, and counting (how many people were there - create graphs, where was it, what did we do, what did it look like, kind of day, etc.)

In teaching your child, don't forget to teach the value of everyday life and family.

What’s one small memory you wish you could relive, just for a day?
